If you suddenly started seeing friends posting about the mini tote bags from Trader Joe’s, then you’re probably wondering how they knew and how to get one.
If you’re reading this now, they probably are all sold out.
How I Found Out
I found out from a friend who went to Trader Joe’s at 8 AM PST to line up for bags in San Mateo. She actually found out on Rednote, the Instagram equivalent of Lemon8 or Instagram. Somehow, it was shared that the viral tote bags were coming out, and she quickly told me while queuing up for the line in San Mateo.

I went to one in San Francisco that opened up at 9 AM PST. I got there exactly at 8:45 AM, and queued up for 15 minutes. It was quite orderly, with no pushing and running.
How Many You Can Get
They allocated 4 per person at the location in San Francisco, and you got to mix and match the colors. Two Trader Joe’s employees were out front, handing out bags to those queuing up. From what I know, it looks like they were almost sold out.
Size and Colors
On their website, it states, “Sized at about 13 inches long, 11 inches tall, and 6 inches wide, our Mini Pastel Canvas Tote Bags are ideal for smaller shopping trips—the kind where you’re just picking up something for lunch, or grabbing those items you forgot the first time around.” They come in delicate pink, baby blue, mint green, and lovely lavender.
These bags do come once a year, and go pretty viral because they’re so hard to get. Kind of like an easter egg, it’s first come, first serve with small quantity batches at a time.
Did you end up getting one? Let me know where you found yours!
